Scale Inhibitor Water Softener / Descaler IPSE 3/4"

Hard water filter / Home water softener / Descaler for house application Nordic Tec IPSE 3/4"

  • Home water softener - basing on galvanic and silver electrodes and IPSE technology of softening water
  • Works as a Hard water filter used to prevent scale / limescale formation in the system, protects devices working in contact with hard water, such as plate heat exchangers, heating boilers, heat pumps, storage tanks, and central heating installations as a whole, washing machines, coffee makers, dish washers etc.

More information on the IPSE Home water softener and its principle of operation you can find below.

  • The connection dimension: 3/4" / DN20

If the 3/4" connection is not enough for you - check as well the Home Water Softener for 1".

Technical information about Home water softener 3/4" by NORDIC TEC

The main principle of opeation is IPSE technology, described in further part.

  • Connection diameter of the home water softener tube: 3/4" internal thread, DN20
  • Maximum flow: up to 4 m3/h
  • Tube material: INOX (Stainless steel)
  • The Home water softener can be used with different types of materials: Cu, CPVC, PVC, PEXResistance
  • Almost no pressure losses: pressure loss generated by our type of a Hard water filter is between: 40 and 670 Pa, i.e. the influence on the water pressure almost doesn't exist
  • Water temperature allowed for operation: from 0 - 85°C
  • Optimal temperature for maximum efficiency at the inlet to the device: +2°C - +60 °C

Product name clarification - home water softener, scale inhibitor, hard water descaler, hard water filter etc

The device differs from a conventional water softener as it does not remove the salts and minerals responsible for water hardness. Instead, it alters the structure of these minerals, transforming them into aragonite, which prevents them from forming deposits. Despite this - the IPSE technology can be considered a form of water softening.

Similarly - it cannot be strictly categorized as a hard water descaler, as this term typically refers to chemical products aimed at dissolving existing scale deposits. While it may sometimes be referred to as a descaler, this isn't entirely accurate. When installed in older, heavily scaled systems, its effects may be minimal or barely noticeable. However, in new systems, it can significantly impact system performance, although this may require several months of observation to detect any initial signs of scale deposition.

  • Effectiveness of a water softening: up to 86%
  • Service life: about 10 years

Where to use the IPSE water filter for hard water

  • Our IPSE water filter for hard water - should be used in detached houses - or apartments, especially in regions with a high degree of water hardness (biggest part of Europe unfortunately has this problem)
  • Water filters for hard water - protect household appliances against the effects of scale - should be used at the entrance to the system after pre-filters
  • To safeguard particular appliances prone to scale buildup, including washing machines, coffee makers, dishwashers, and bathroom fixtures.
  • Prior to the use of heating equipment like condensing gas boilers, heat pumps, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and domestic hot water buffers.
  • For the protection of other scale-sensitive devices, particularly those made of steel, such as UV water filters or reverse osmosis filters.

How it works - Ion Polarization System - IPSE - operation rule for laymen

How the IPSE Technology by NORDIC TEC works:

  • A steel pipe contains an electrode filament that induces turbulent water circulation.

  • Upon contact with water, a galvanic cell is generated, producing a voltage of less than 6V. This cell impacts the structure of minerals found in the water, primarily calcium and magnesium compounds, which are responsible for its hardness and tend to accumulate on surfaces of installations or devices as deposits.
  • The mineral salts accountable for deposit formation, commonly known as scale, transform into soft, non-settling particles known as aragonite, which can be easily removed along with the water flow.
  • Because of the galvanic fiber and silver-coated fiber, which are resistant to bacterial colonization, the device also aids in combating bacteria such as E. coli, serving as a complement to ultraviolet water sterilizers, for instance. Its effectiveness against E. coli is estimated at 40%, but this should be viewed as an additional benefit rather than the primary purpose of the product.
  • By diminishing the accumulation of scale deposits over time, it positively influences the operational expenses of appliances like hot water tanks and storage tanks, as scale buildup substantially decreases their efficiency.

Water softener installation - Recommendations / Usage Description for Water Softeners

  • Prior to Water softener installation, it is advisable to incorporate mechanical filters, unless a filter at the house entrance already serves this purpose.
  • This maintenance-free device operates based on physical and chemical principles, consuming no energy and functioning independently 24/7.
  • The device operates without the need for supervision.
  • It can also function effectively in closed systems; however, in open systems where scale formation poses a greater risk, combating its effects may be even more crucial.
