What heating devices can the Nordic Tec Ba-16-50 heat exchanger work with?
What is the maximum power of a gas boiler that can be serviced by the Nordic Tec Ba-16-50 heat exchanger?
The Nordic Tec Ba-16-50 heat exchanger can comfortably work with devices up to approximately 30kW for modern or upgraded hydraulic systems, new constructions, or well-insulated facilities. For older installations, the maximum recommended power of the gas boiler will be lower, at around 25-28kW.
What would be the maximum power of a solid fuel or pellet boiler that can be serviced by this heat exchanger?
Assuming that the temperatures of such boilers are only slightly higher than the preferred working temperatures for condensation, it can be assumed that the power output in kW would be slightly higher or at worst comparable to that of gas boilers.
Can the Ba-16-50 50-plate heat exchanger work with a fireplace with a water jacket?
Certainly - it can work with any heating device that requires a connection of a closed and open system. The maximum recommended power of the fireplace for this device is about 25-30 kW. The higher limit, that is 30 kW, is allowed if the water jacket has a potentially good heat absorption, that is, it is connected, for example, to a properly sized underfloor heating or heating installation. If the fireplace is significantly oversized compared to the building (which means it has a much greater heating potential than the installation can absorb), it is recommended not to use this heat exchanger for fireplaces larger than 25 kW.
Can the Ba-16-50 plate heat exchanger work with heat pumps when connecting the heat pump to the glycol/water circuit?
Yes, but it should be noted that in heating systems where heat pumps are to operate at low temperatures around 35-40 degrees Celsius, a significant heat exchange surface area is required, of at least 2m² or even 2.5m² of plates per 10kW of the heat pump (many installers even provide significantly higher conversion rates, especially if the system consist only of low-temperature UFH). In systems where the heat pump is to operate at slightly higher temperatures, the conversion rate is slightly smaller but still demanding. This means that the Ba-16-50 model with a surface area of 0.80m² should not work with heat pumps larger than 5-6 kW in practise. This is not a size intended for heat pumps, its primary use is to connect closed and open circuits in cooperation with gas, pellet, solid fuel, biomass or coal boilers.
