Magnetic filter 3/4" Nordic Tec DN 20

3/4 Inch Magnetic Filter by Nordic Tec

The 3/4 inch magnetic filter by Nordic Tec is a device designed to protect heating and water systems against contaminants and metallic or corrosive impurities. It effectively captures metal shavings and rust particles from the water, preventing damage to pumps and valves, clogging of heat exchangers, and protecting sensitive heat sources such as heat pumps and modern boilers. Suitable for use in both closed and open systems.

  • Connection: DN20 – 3/4"
  • Maximum recommended operating pressure – < 6 bar
  • Maximum recommended water temperature – < 90 °C
  • Flow rate – up to 72 l/min | 4.3 m³/h

3/4" Magnetic Filter for dirt and impurities in heating systems

magnetic filter boiler 3/4" Nordic Tec DN 20 GB3

Magnetic Filter for dirt separation – a device designed to protect heating systems, size 3/4 inch.

Magnetic Filters by Nordic Tec are designed to protect central heating systems, as well as domestic hot water systems, solar heating installations and cooling systems. The key element of a Magnetic Filter is the magnet, whose task is to attract iron filings and rust particles, along with similar contaminants. Continuous filtration and separation of these impurities prevents failures of sensitive heating components such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, heating boilers (especially modern ones) and even heat pumps. Due to their operating principle, Magnetic Filters are particularly recommended for older systems and worn installations, including open systems. However, they are also worth installing preventively in relatively new, closed systems, where they help extend the lifespan of the installation and its components.

Technical details – Nordic Tec 3/4" Magnetic Filter

3/4" Dirt Separator Nordic Tec – what is it used for?

The Magnetic Filter has been designed to capture impurities inside central heating systems. It is particularly effective at removing iron oxides, which are the main components of corrosion products such as rust formed within the installation over time. These contaminants are highly dangerous for many heating system components and significantly shorten their lifespan – including heat exchangers, pumps, and more expensive equipment such as gas boilers, electric boilers, biomass boilers with automation, and heat pumps. The presence of such deposits also reduces overall heating efficiency by restricting the flow of the heating medium through manifolds, pump groups and radiators, which in the long term results in lower system efficiency and higher heating costs.

The most important factor in the operation of a dirt separator is the magnet and its magnetic strength, expressed in Gauss. The 3/4" Magnetic Filter by Nordic Tec is equipped with a 9200 Gauss magnet, which is stronger than many comparable magnetic filters available on the market.

Magnetic Filter for gas boilers | Nordic Tec – is it worth it?

This device is very often used as a Magnetic Filter for gas boilers, as gas boilers are heating appliances equipped with modern automation and multiple sensors, making them sensitive to debris and corrosion products generated in heating systems over years of operation. Gas boilers also contain heat exchangers, which by nature must be kept clean. Installing a Magnetic Filter for a gas boiler is therefore an excellent preventive measure against potential failures, particularly of the heat exchanger and control systems. It clearly extends the service life of these components by slowing down wear.

Installing such a Magnetic Filter can extend the lifespan of the system, improve its efficiency and reduce service frequency. It is especially recommended for older installations or systems where heating water may contain a higher level of contaminants, resulting in lower operating costs and increased user comfort.

Installation – 3/4" Magnetic Filters for heating systems

Nordic Tec Magnetic Filters for heating systems can be installed in both horizontal and vertical configurations, thanks to their design allowing the filter body to be positioned correctly. The filter body containing the magnet should ultimately be installed in a vertical position to allow easy servicing, such as removing impurities or operating the drain valve.

An important component of Nordic Tec Magnetic Filters is the included 3/4" isolation valves. These must not be omitted, as isolating the filter from the heating system is the first step required for basic maintenance, namely removing accumulated impurities.

The final important aspect is the correct flow direction. Nordic Tec Magnetic Filters feature flow direction markings indicated by an arrow on the body, which must be followed during installation. Connecting the filter against the indicated flow direction may increase hydraulic resistance in the system and lead to suboptimal performance.
