Flanged Plate Heat Exchangers
Flanged plate heat exchangers – flange heat exchangers DN65 / DN80
Nordic Tec heat exchangers with flange connections, also known as flanged heat exchangers, efficiently transfer heat energy between two circuits of a system. Flange connections are only found on larger units designed for commercial and industrial use. That is why this category mainly features high-capacity plate heat exchangers for large heating systems.
Thanks to the flange connections, the heat exchangers can be connected easily and safely to large-diameter pipework – wherever high flow rates and high heat transfer capacity are required.

Applications of heat exchangers with flange connections
Flanged heat exchangers are used mainly in industrial plants, large heating systems, cooling circuits and process installations. They are an alternative to standard heat exchangers with threaded connections – especially where the system parameters require larger connection diameters. In some types of installation a flange connection is explicitly required, and it proves its worth above all in larger systems.
Flanged heat exchangers – applications
Plate heat exchangers with flange connections are suitable for many types of installation, including:
-
high-capacity central heating systems (e.g. heat transfer in commercial and multi-occupancy residential buildings),
-
district heating systems and district heating substations,
-
industrial heating and cooling systems,
-
circuits using glycol as the working medium,
-
process installations in which two circuits have to be separated,
-
heat recovery systems and installations using waste heat.
Advantages of heat exchangers with flange connections
The main advantage of flanged heat exchangers is their larger connection diameters compared with many standard threaded models. Correctly sized flange connections allow high flow rates with suitable hydraulic parameters of the system.
Flanged joints also ensure stable installation and make it easier to integrate the heat exchanger into an existing industrial or heating system. Thanks to their design, plate heat exchangers offer a large heat transfer area relative to their dimensions.
How to choose a heat exchanger with flange connections?
When choosing the right heat exchanger, the main factors to consider are the required heat output, the operating temperatures of both circuits, the working medium, as well as the flow rates and the permissible pressure drop.
The nominal size and standard of the flange connections are also important and must match the system parameters. The flange size alone does not determine the heat exchanger's capacity – what matters is the overall operating performance of the unit.
Our range includes heat exchangers with flange connections for applications that require efficient heat transfer and a reliable connection to the system. A correctly sized flanged heat exchanger ensures efficient operation of heating, cooling and process systems.
