Nordic Tec 4W UV-C Lamp for Water Sterilization
The 4W UV-C water sterilization lamp is a reliable device for disinfecting water in various applications. As the smallest model in our catalog, it is intended for the smallest applications, in terms of mass water flow. The UV-C rays emitted by the UV bulb effectively eliminate bacteria (including E. Coli), viruses, and fungi that may be present in the water. This is a safe and eco-friendly alternative to chemical disinfectants. The 4W UV lamp for water is compact and takes up very little space, as seen in the main photo. It is easy to install and ideal for small water systems, such as slow-flow kitchen faucets (low-flow faucets for three-phase reverse osmosis filters) or small aquariums. It ensures high disinfection efficiency and improves water quality by eliminating unpleasant odors and providing a crystal-clear taste.
Nordic Tec is a reputable manufacturer of UV lamps, guaranteeing high quality and durability of their products. Check our quality, browse our catalog of UV-C lamps for water.
UV Pond Filter & Aquarium UV sterilizer | 4W
The 4W UV water filter, while too small to effectively sterilize the water flow in a single-family home, is an excellent solution for sterilizing small water tanks intended for fish breeding. It works great as an aquarium UV sterilizer, where it can operate intermittently, for example, 2-3 times a week. It is often used as a UV Pond Filter - for ponds with fishes or without.
The Nordic Tec 4W UV water filter has a significant advantage over traditional and common UV pond filters and aquarium UV sterilizers. These are often made of plastic or PVC, whereas our product is made of much more sterile and durable stainless steel. In particular, in tanks housing highly sensitive fish species, it is worth using a stainless steel aquarium UV sterilisers.
If you think about using this products as a UV Pond Filter - it should be sufficient for gardens ponds up to 3 cubic meters.
UV Filter Aquarium – Nordic Tec with Philips 4W UVC Lamp
A water sterilization device – the UV filter for aquariums proves to be extremely useful and significantly improves the comfort of aquarium maintenance for both aquarium hobbyists and professionals. In professional aquaculture, it is an essential element of water purification. The 4 W UV aquarium filter is suitable for small and medium-sized aquariums with a capacity of up to 180 liters. The operating method of UV lamps in aquariums is quite specific – as a rule, the lamp should not be switched on all the time nor operate continuously. It is recommended to initially run the UV filter for a maximum of 2–3 hours per day or even every other day. If such use does not produce the expected results, the operating time of the filter can be gradually extended. Depending on the degree of water contamination (the number of fish and the characteristics of the aquarium are important here) and the size of the aquarium itself, our UV filter will require more or fewer hours of operation per week. Generally, however, even in larger aquariums continuous operation of the lamp is not necessary. It is worth emphasizing that the goal is not to obtain completely sterilized water, but to maintain an environment and ecosystem appropriate for the aquarium. Let us not forget that part of the microbial flora is absolutely essential for aquariums.
It should be remembered that the lamp should not be switched on more than 1–2 times per day (with switching it on twice a day recommended only under specific circumstances). There is no point in running it for short periods such as 10 minutes or half an hour several times a day. Such operation is insufficiently effective and additionally leads to faster wear of the UV-C lamp, which is rather designed for continuous operation. It is worth noting that in other applications, UV water lamps can operate continuously for even several months. Frequent switching off has a much more negative effect on the lamp. Each user of a UV aquarium filter should develop their own usage schedule, tailored to individual needs. It often turns out that using the UV filter for only 3–8 hours per week, for example in a system of twice a week, is sufficient to notice a clear improvement.
What is the difference between a stainless steel UV aquarium filter and cheaper UV filters made of plastic, also intended for aquariums?
The main difference lies in the material: stainless steel is considered one of the most hygienic materials. Its properties create an environment unfavorable to bacteria. For this reason, stainless steel is approved for various applications, such as the food industry or drinking water treatment. Our stainless steel UV aquarium filters even have PZH certification, confirming the highest level of hygiene and the absence of risk of infection development when the lamp is switched off. This is a certification that products made of plastic cannot obtain.
Plastic, PVC, etc. – for the same reasons is not recommended for food-related applications, as it promotes the development of harmful bacterial flora and algae. The same phenomenon occurs in a plastic UV aquarium filter when the UV radiation is switched off. Considering the relatively small price difference, it is worth investing in hygienic, certified solutions, especially if the fish species in the aquarium require it.
UV lamps for aquariums – what else is worth knowing
It should be remembered that UV lamps for aquariums are not submersible devices. They should be installed next to the aquarium or below it. Water flow in the chamber of the UV aquarium lamp should be provided by a circulation pump supplying water from the filters.
UV aquarium filters should be connected in such a way that the water intended for sterilization first passes through a mechanical filter. It should not contain solid particles such as plant debris or food residues. The presence of small particles may lead to faster burnout of the UV lamp.
