A frequent question from installers:

Will the plate heat exchanger Ba-16-32 not clog quickly? How big is the space between the exchanger's plates?

Answer: When mounting at the exchanger's input on each side, it is recommended to mount mechanical filters. A simple thing, fully protecting the exchanger. The space between the plates in which water flows is about 2 - 2.2mm (the plates are corrugated to increase the heat exchange). This is enough to ensure safe work. Filter assembly has one more important advantage. In case of suspected any problems, it is enough to clean the filters instead of removing the exchanger.

What is the maximum flow rate that the Ba-16-32 plate heat exchanger can handle?

The Ba-16-32 PHE can handle a maximum flow rate of 8 cubic meters per hour (plate construction), if we don't take into account the limits for the pipe dimensions 1". Generally whole designing the heating or cooling system with a heat exchanger it's worth to work under the value of 75% of nominal flowrate  to make the system and especially pump work more efficient.

Can the Ba-16-32 plate heat exchanger be used for both domestic hot water and heating applications?

Yes, the Ba-16-32 PHE as every unit by Nordic Tec is suitable for use in both domestic hot water and heating applications. But - this is the question of correct sizing, the heat exchanger's capacity must be sized properly for a given application.

Is it necessary to use a descaling agent when cleaning the Ba-16-32 plate heat exchanger?

Yes, it is recommended to use some descaling agent when cleaning PHE to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Of course if assume that we clean the PHE for example once a year (highly recommended), because many people don't do it. If a heat exchanger is oversized the neglegation of a cleaning is not so harmful and the result will be visible only after years.
