Heat exchangers for central heating - Ba-32-15 Nordic Tec - what practical applications can they be used for? What devices can they work with?
The Ba-32-15 Nordic Tec plate heat exchanger, with 15 plates and a total area of 0.48m², is most commonly used to serve single-family homes up to 150m², provided that it is selected appropriately for the type of heating we have. It can work with both radiators and underfloor heating. It can work great with boilers (using various types of fuel, such as gas, pellets, coal, or eco-pea) - typically with power up to 16-18 kW
In fact, its performance is much higher, however, the numbers we give here are within the selection in the perspective of years. The lifetime of a plate heat exchanger in an installation with the correct selection is 10-15 years, so the natural process of equipment wear and tear should be taken into account when selecting. Boilers of several kW of power - can be operated by this model in the perspective of many years of service life, but if we choose a device for a shorter period of time - this exchanger will also serve larger boilers.
However, this device will not be the optimal choice for operating heat pumps. HP are devices for which (similarly to their manufacturers) we recommend the use of large plate surfaces, much larger than in the case of, for example, central heating boilers of the same power. This is related to the operating characteristics of heat pumps. We suggest simply using models with a larger heating exchange surface. If necessary, our team will be happy to consult with you on the selection of the right model for the Heat Pump.

15-plate heat exchanger and the wall-mounting brackets for PHE
The Ba-32-15 model is the 'youngest' model in the Nordic Tec Ba-32 series. As with other models in the series, it has a working pressure of up to 30 bar, although it was subjected to prolonged pressure of 45 and 60 bar during leak tests. Typically for this series, it is offered with connections in size DN25, commonly referred to as 1".
The heat exchanger is available with thermal insulation, which is modular (it can also be installed on an already installed heat exchanger without removing it from the heating system). It consists of one ring and two covers, and is made of polypropylene.

An additional optional accessory is a wall-bracket used to hang the heat exchanger on the wall. It has bolts that lead the outputs from the heat exchanger at a 90-degree angle, and they can be rotated in any direction. From comments received from plumbing companies, we know that this is an accessory that actually saves time and money. At first glance, the bracket may seem expensive, but few people take into account that without its purchase, it is still necessary to buy angle bolts and some form of wall suspension for the heat exchanger. As a result, purchasing without the bracket, although possible, requires finding these additional items separately, purchasing them, fitting them, and also time-consuming assembly. Many installers come to this conclusion only later.
